It is with great sorrow and a very deep sense of loss, that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs bids farewell to Professor Bronisław Geremek, a great Pole, patriot, diplomat and politician.
We have lost a great statesman, one of the leaders of the democratic opposition during the communist era, co-author of the civil society after 1989, who was subsequently appointed to the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs and who, through his work, contributed to Poland's accession to NATO and the European Union.

        His wisdom and experience will be sorely missed, as will his enthusiasm for everything beneficial to Poland.
