Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski paid a working visit to Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast. The visit’s programme saw Minister Sikorski meet the Governor of the Kaliningrad Oblast Georgy Boos and the Governor of the Tver Oblast Dmitry Zelenin. The talks addressed cooperation issues at bilateral and EU-Russia levels, including prospects of launching frontier zone travel, given the Polish and Russian Foreign Ministers’ declaration to provide the entire population of the Kaliningrad Oblast with that privilege. In addition, proposals were made for Polish-Russian cooperation in activating the Vistula Lagoon navigation. The talks also covered a concept of sustainable development strategy for the region.
Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, along with the Marshals of Warmia-Mazuria, Pomerania and West-Pomerania: Jacek Protas, Mieczysław Struka and Władysław Husejka, attended the opening ceremony of Regatta for the Three Marshals Cup which took place on 24 July 2010 between Baltiysk and Frombork. Foreign Minister Radosław Sikroski also paid a visit aboard the Gopło Republic of Poland Ship, a minesweeper of the 8th Flotilla of the Polish Navy Coast Defence.
