Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, designated by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, represented Poland at the 29 January World Economic Forum in Davos.
Minister Sikorski participated as panellist in the following two sessions:
- Restoring Peace and Stability in Afghanistan, with the participation of Foreign Ministers: Britain’s David Miliband Sweden’s Karl Bildt, United Arab Emirates’ Anwar M. Gargash, and Afghanistan’s former Finance Minister Ashraf Ghani. The discussion was led by Foreign Affairs columnist Thomas L. Friedman, and
- Europe’s Role on the Global Stage, with the participation of President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek, Russia’s Minister for Economic Development Elvira Nabiullina, Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Steven Vanackere, Latvia’s President Valdis Zatlers, Britain’s Foreign Minister David Miliband, Denmark’s Foreign Minister Per Stig Moeller, Sweden’s Minister for International Development Cooperation Gunilla Carlsson, and Professor of European Studies in the University of Oxford Timothy Garton Ash. The discussion was led by Director of the Brussels Centre for European Reform Charles Grant.
During the Davos Forum Minister Sikorski held a number of bilateral discussions with, among others, President of the European Parliament, Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Foreign Ministers of Britain and Sweden and former Foreign Minister of Afghanistan. Minister Radosław Sikorski also met representatives of Poland’s and world business, as well as representatives of the leading economic media.
