Polish-Chinese political consultations

Polish-Chinese political consultations at Vice Foreign Minister level were held in Warsaw on February 1st 2010 between MFA Under-Secretary of State Paweł Wojciechowski and Deputy Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China Zhang Zhijun.

Both sides highlighted the relevance of the basic principles by which the two countries are to develop their bilateral relations, under the Joint Statement of June 2004. The Polish side acknowledged the invariability of the One China Principle in Poland’s policy on the People’s Republic of China and expressed support for China’s efforts to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Deputy Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun stressed Poland’s importance as China’s crucial partner among the EU Member States and pledged support for greater economic involvement of China’s companies and financial institutions on the Polish market.

During the talks both sides declared themselves willing to stimulate bilateral political contacts, including those between Poland’s and China’s Foreign Ministries. The Polish side stressed that Poland attaches great importance to taking active part in the World EXPO 2010 in Shanghai.

On Tuesday, February 2nd, the Chinese delegation, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun, was received by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Waldemar Pawlak.
