Jan Borkowski was born in Łosice on August 7 1952. 

1977 - MA in economics (Economics Department of  the Świętokrzyska University of Technology in Radom)

1986 - Ph.D. in economics of agriculture (Economics Department of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences)
         fields of scholarship: economics of European integration, European political relations

1980-1990 - research worker  at the Higher Agricultural-Pedagogical School in Siedlce

1990-1993 -  Deputy Voivode of Siedleckie Voivodship

1993-1997 - Member of Parliament, 1993-1996 - Chairman  of the Committee on  European Treaty Issues, 1993-1996 - Co-Chair of  the Joint RP-EU Parliamentary Committee

1996-1997 – Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

1998 -    research worker at Warsaw University’s  Centre for Europe , author of several dozen works (e.g. editor of “The Role of Poland in Shaping the Eastern Policy of the European Union on the Example of Ukraine” – 2006,  editor of “Yearbook of Polish European Studies” – 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006), lecturer on the strategy and European policy of the Republic of Poland, EU community policies, international organizations, European integration (2003-2006 at the Higher School of Commerce and Law in Warsaw, Jean Monnet Module grant of the European Commission)

Jan Borkowski is a member of the Polish European Community Studies Association (from 1998) and of the Polish Council of the European Movement (from 1995).

He has made study visits  to Denmark, Canada, USA, Great Britain, France, Germany, Holland .
