Mikołaj Dowgielewicz
Secretary of State in Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responsible for government preparations for the Polish EU Council Presidency.
Born in 1972. Studied at the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences at the University of Warsaw, graduated with a joint diploma from the Faculty of Law and Politics at the University of Hull (Great Britain) and received his MA at the Advanced European Studies at the College of Europe in Natolin.
He worked at the Political Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (1998-2000) and then as the Adviser to the President of the Commission of European Law of the Sejm (Lower House of the Polish Parliament (2000-2001) and as the Head of Academic Service at the College of Europe (2002-2003).
In 2003 began his work in Brussels as the Advisor to the President of the European Parliament, Mr Pat Cox. In 2004 he took the post of the European Commission Spokesperson for Institutional Relations and Communication Strategy and later, in 2007, began work in the Cabinet of the Vice-President of the European Commission, Ms Margot Wallström.
From 17th December 2007 to 31st December 2009 Secretary of the Committee for European Integration, Secretary of State at the Office of the Committee for European Integration and Deputy Chairman of the European Committee of the Council of Ministers. Moreover, he also represented the Republic of Poland in the proceedings before the Court of Justice of the European Communities and the Court of First Instance. He was also the Representative of the Government responsible for the government bodies preparations for the Polish EU Council Presidency.
He is fluent in both English and French.
