Piotr Serafin
Undersecretary of State in Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responsible for economic issues
Born in 1974 in Sulęcin. Graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics (economy) and from the faculty of law and administration at Warsaw University (law). He also obtained a diploma of postgraduate studies in the field of European integration at the University of Sussex and has been the scholarship holder of the US Department of State and Ministry of the French Foreign Affairs.
In 1998 began his work in UKIE as the EU budget and institutional matters specialist. He also cooperated with the Chief Negotiator for Polish EU membership as well as was the coordinator of works and negotiations concerning financial perspective for years 2007-2013 and several times was a member of the delegation of Poland for the summits of the EU heads of states and governments.
From 2004 the director of the Department of Analysis and Strategy in UKIE. From 2008 to 2009 he was Undersecretary of State of the Office of the Committee for European Integration and National Aid Coordinator for Phare Programmes and Transitional Measures.
He was also the consultant in the field of preparation for the EU membership and assessment of the regulation effects for the governments of Ukraine, Croatia and Turkey as well as OECD/SIGMA. In 2007 he was the special adviser of Regional Policy Commissioner Danuta Huebner.
Married, with two daughters.
