  • Bilateral relations

    Poland was one of the first countries which recognized Bangladesh. Official diplomatic relations were established on
    12 January 1972. In 2001 the activity of the Polish Embassy in Dhaka was suspended and in September 2002 Bangladesh closed its Embassy in Warsaw. There is a Honorary Consulate of Bangladesh in Sosnowiec. There are no contentious issues in bilateral relations.

     

    Calendar of events:

    • In 1986 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland paid a visit to Bangladesh in the framework
      of political consultations.
    • In 1988  the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh paid a visit to Poland.

    Economic relations:

    In 2011, with the percentage share of 0,01%, Bangladesh was only the 100th market for Poland`s export. Similarly to 2010, Bangladesh paid a more important role as a provider of goods to Poland and occupied 38th position on the import  list (with the share of 0,28%).

    Export: USD 26,6 million

    Import: USD 591,8 million
