    The chief of Polish diplomacy has met with Ekaterina Zaharieva, Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The two diplomats held talks on the occasion of the Bucharest Nine meeting of foreign ministers, which was hosted by Warsaw today.

    "The intensive high-level dialogue between Poland and Bulgaria is proof of our shared views ‎on many issues, including the EU's future, the threats and challenges to European security, and relations with our closest neighbours. We will be supporting Bulgaria's presidency of the EU Council in 2018," said  Minister Witold Waszczykowski.

     

     

    The ministers emphasised the very good state of bilateral relations, pointing to the recent visits by Prime Minister Beata Szydło to Sofia and Bulgarian President  Rumen Radev to Poland. The discussion also covered European security issues and items which are currently on the EU agenda. Minister Zaharieva outlined the priorities of Bullgaria's EU Council presidency in the first half of 2018. Minister Witold Waszczykowski declared support for the Bulgarian presidency, including one of its main aims which is to promote the Western Balkans' integration with the EU.
